5 tips for customising your Windows desktop

It's always nice to be in a personalized environment where you feel at home. Here are 5 tips to help you change the look and feel of your Windows 10 or 11 desktop.

1. Customize your desktop background. To do this, click on the icon  and type “background”, then press Enter. In the window that appears, you can change your desktop background.

2. Dark effect, transparency and color. In the same window as for changing the background, but in the "colours" tab you can choose the dark or light theme, leave transparency on the window edges or change the main color of your Windows.

3. Create a shortcut. For an application or folder that you use frequently, it can be useful to create a shortcut on the desktop so that you can access it quickly and easily. Right-click on the folder or application and then "create a shortcut". It will then either be automatically moved to the Windows desktop or you will have to do it manually by copying and pasting the item.

4. Customise the icons. You can change the icons used to display your folders or other items. Right-click, then "properties", then the "customise" tab and "change icon". You can then choose from a list of icons.

5. Change display options, multi-screen working. You can change the resolution of your screen, for example to adapt it to the screen you have just connected. If you have several screens, you can adapt the layout. To do this, click on the icon  and type "display", then press Enter. In the window that appears, you can make the changes described above.
